Abstract
⺠We assessed mountain protection levels at multiple scales against 2020 CBD targets. ⺠We used global databases: WDPA, WWF Ecoregions, IBAs & AZEs. ⺠At a global scale, 2020 CBD targets are almost met. ⺠At finer scales, over 50% of countries, realms, biomes & ecoregions miss the targets. ⺠At site scale, 39% of IBAs and 45% of AZEs remain entirely unprotected.
