Abstract
- Bed shear stress can act as a proxy for environmental and related ecological effects due to sand extraction.
- Larger sand extraction depths can be applied at higher flow velocities and water depths.
- The EBD rules can help to maximise sand yields, decrease the surface area of direct impact and moving towards Good Environmental Status under the Marine Strategy Framework Directive.
