Abstract
⺠We linked hydraulic variables and sediment sizes along a meander with invertebrate's distribution. ⺠The meander scour hole (largest bed shear stresses) would be a hostile area for invertebrates. ⺠We have found two characteristic benthic assemblages across the bend. ⺠The Paraguay River would be within an optimal range of hydraulic stress values for invertebrates. ⺠We established the minimum and maximum hydraulic stress for invertebrate settlement.
