Abstract
⺠Plunging and streaming attraction flow tested at eel ladders on intertidal barrier. ⺠Eel passage 2 fold higher in the presence of plunging flow. ⺠Strong 'edge effect' in eel route choice with greatest catches near banks. ⺠Largest eels exclusively passed towards the centre of the channel. ⺠Addition of simple design feature enhances eel passage at barriers.
