Abstract
► The symbiotic crab Calyptraeotheres garthi inhabits two limpet hosts. ► We expected female crabs to display preferences for the higher quality host. ► However, females preferred the original host species regardless of the benefits. ► Host habituation might explain source-host fidelity. ► Solitary females appear to be sedentary and males might use a pure-search strategy.
