Abstract
⺠Dactylomelin-P oxidizes L-lys and L-arg and behaves as an L-AAO. ⺠The antibacterial activity of dactylomelin-P is mediated by hydrogen peroxide. ⺠Dactylomelin-P is bacteriostatic or bactericide depending on L-aa concentrations. ⺠Dactylomelin-P binds to the cell envelope. ⺠L-AAOs similarities tell their evolutionary history and role in chemical defense.
