Abstract
► We study red porgy larvae feeding performance and behavior at first feeding. ► Prey movement is not decisive for their detection and capture by larvae. ► Live or inert feed and diet shifts produced similar larval feeding performances. ► Gut fullness and evacuation rate are long duration and different timing processes. ► Swimming activity reflects short-term variation and morphological development.
