Abstract
⺠SRI was compared to Recommended Management Practices (RMPs) and farmers' practices. ⺠SRI and RMP increased yield, but farmers found neither system to be a good fit. ⺠Farmers and researchers collaborated to develop a “Farmer Adapted Practice” (FAP). ⺠FAP, SRI and RMP yielded similarly, but FAP increased profit and reduced risk. ⺠Experiential learning can be used in research and extension to foster innovation.
