Abstract
► We developed a model of the evolution of aggregation behavior using a site-based model. ► The model incorporates scramble competition, local Allee effects, and grouping formation. ► The model shows that aggregation behavior can stabilize population dynamics. ► The Allee effect alone is not sufficient for aggregation to be evolutionarily stable in our model.
