Abstract
⺠We study the effects of facilitation and competition on group foraging in patches. ⺠Using the marginal value theorem, we find the optimal group size and residence time. ⺠Trade-offs between facilitation and competition influence the optimal group size. ⺠Groups are predicted to exploit patches differently than individual foragers.
