Abstract
⺠Resource stock and social dynamics concerning non-excessive extraction are coupled via ostracism. ⺠Cooperation is the outcome of an evolutionary process of imitation of successful strategies. ⺠We find that, when reputational considerations matter, sustainable outcomes are achieved. ⺠Three regimes are identified, one where norm-observing and norm-violating types coexist.
