Abstract
⺠Similarity discrimination involves cooperation with recognisably similar others. ⺠Unlike the greenbeard effect, it does not rely on fixed phenotypic tags. ⺠It occurs spontaneously and easily across a range of strategic structures. ⺠It facilitates rapid evolution of cooperation even without population viscosity.
