Abstract
► A mechanochemical model of smooth muscle contractile units is proposed. ► The model is able to predict length-tension relationship through filament overlap. ► The model is able to predict isotonic quick-releases through filament sliding theory. ► Time dependent length-tension experimental data of pig carotid media is presented.
