Abstract
⺠Only mycelium of Phoma macrostoma can incite photobleaching and plant damage. ⺠In susceptible hosts, the fungus grows beside the trachea disrupting root cell structure. ⺠In resistant hosts, fungal growth is restricted to root hairs and epidermal layers.
