Abstract

- Interactions of Baccharis spartioides and Schinus polygama oils on Ceratitis capitata were tested.
- Adults from both sexes of C. capitata responded differently to the oils.
- Both oils enhanced the sexual competitiveness of the males.
- S. polygama oil presented α-copaene, a recognized male attractant of medflies.
