Abstract
ⶠCastor oil production generates two by-products: husks and meal. ⶠThose by-products are traditionally used as organic fertilizers, especially the castor meal for its high N content. ⶠCastor meal has been reported to be toxic to plants when used in high dose as organic fertilizer. ⶠCastor husk was blended to castor meal in increasing doses in order to reduce the toxicity. ⶠThe castor husk did not change appreciably the maximum dose of castor cake allowed as organic fertilizer.
