Abstract
▶ Castor oil production generates two by-products: husks and meal. ▶ Those by-products are traditionally used as organic fertilizers, especially the castor meal for its high N content. ▶ Castor meal has been reported to be toxic to plants when used in high dose as organic fertilizer. ▶ Castor husk was blended to castor meal in increasing doses in order to reduce the toxicity. ▶ The castor husk did not change appreciably the maximum dose of castor cake allowed as organic fertilizer.
