Abstract
▶ Preclimacteric avocado fruit are highly responsive to 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP). ▶ 1-MCP response thresholds increase with onset of climacteric ethylene production. ▶ 1-MCP responses are strongly influenced by internal ethylene concentration. ▶ Avocado fruit remain highly sensitive to ethylene through advanced ripening.
