Abstract
â¶ Fruit quality of avocado was improved, following postharvest silicon treatments. â¶ Silicon positively affected free and bound-phenols of mesocarp tissue postharvest. â¶ Postharvest Si reduced fruit electrolyte leakage and lipid peroxidation. â¶ Postharvest Si increased catalase expression and activity. â¶ Potassium silicate can improve fruit quality through an increased anti-oxidant pool.
