Abstract
▶ Fruit quality of avocado was improved, following postharvest silicon treatments. ▶ Silicon positively affected free and bound-phenols of mesocarp tissue postharvest. ▶ Postharvest Si reduced fruit electrolyte leakage and lipid peroxidation. ▶ Postharvest Si increased catalase expression and activity. ▶ Potassium silicate can improve fruit quality through an increased anti-oxidant pool.
