Abstract
► The effect of uranium exposure was examined on fish olfactory and lateral systems using SEM. ► Uranium uptake in organs: olfactory rosettes and bulbs, brain, skin, and muscles, was measured. ► Uranium displayed a strong affinity for sensory structures directly in contact with the medium. ► At the end of experiment, uranium remained present in non negligible quantity in sensory tissues. ► Fish exposed to uranium showed severe sensory tissue alterations in both sensory systems.
