Abstract
⺠Acute and subchronic cadmium (Cd) exposures impaired green-lipped mussel physiology. ⺠Gill Cd accumulation showed linear correlation to subchronic Cd concentration. ⺠Clearance rate (CR) was impaired at elevated Cd levels. ⺠CR inhibition was strongly correlated with tissue Cd accumulation. ⺠Mussel CR may be a simple and effective tool for assessing coastal Cd contamination.
