Abstract
► It is the first study to compare sensitivity of closely related sturgeon species to dietary methylmercury (MeHg) side by side using a pathological tool. ► Green sturgeon showed higher histological alterations in kidney and liver than white sturgeon when exposed to dietary MeHg. ► White sturgeon is not an appropriate reference animal to assess dietary MeHg toxicity in green sturgeon.
