Abstract
The concept of intellectual capital (IC) has recently become a common performance measure for the socio-economic development of countries and regions. In this paper we apply Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) for the purpose of evaluating regional intellectual capital in Poland. The analysis aims at documenting the efficiency of chosen components of intellectual capital across Polish regions. The efficiency scores obtained show significant differences between Polish regions in terms of intellectual capital use. With respect to the DEA methodology we note that it still needs methodological development. At the same time, however, it is an approach that is very promising as a tool for measuring the efficiency of socio-economic performance at the regional level.
