Abstract
⺠We create a vulnerability index (EHVI) for extreme heat utilizing the Chicago, IL, USA 1995 heat wave analog. ⺠We compare the developed EHVI with a population density, environmental and socioeconomic model utilizing mortality data from the heat wave. ⺠We determine the EHVI outperforms the other models and follows the expected distribution of mortality. ⺠We outline further and future efforts in the development and fine tuning of the EHVI.
