Abstract
⺠Social capital is analyzed in terms of micro (family) and macro (institution) factors. ⺠Family social capital in Vietnam increases female entrepreneurship. ⺠Access to market and microfinance contribute to female entrepreneurship. ⺠Institutions (i.e. the Women's Union) negatively impact female entrepreneurship.
