Abstract
► Plans for fuels reduction rarely considers the effects on wildlife habitat. ► We compared changes in fisher habitat at Fire and Fire Surrogate sites in California. ► We used habitat models to evaluate effects of treatments on predicted habitat value. ► There were significant negative effects on predicted resting habitat suitability. ► Careful application and monitoring can mitigate the negative effects of treatments.
