Abstract
⺠We reconstructed the fire history of a Pinus nigra forest. ⺠We used cross-sections of fire scarred trees. ⺠The study area has experienced frequent surface fires over the last two centuries. ⺠Recent fires are larger and burn mostly as crown fires. ⺠P. nigra can withstand a long-term surface fire regime.
