Abstract
► CWD carbon quantified across a MAT gradient in Hawaiian tropical montane wet forest. ► CWD carbon ranged from 12.2 to 104.6 Mg ha−1 across the MAT gradient. ► CWD carbon accounted for an average of ∼17% of total aboveground carbon storage. ► CWD carbon storage decreased with increasing MAT. ► CWD may become a net carbon source in tropical wet forests with warming.
