Abstract
⺠For stands, light interception may increase logarithmically with leaf area index. ⺠For single tree crowns, light interception increases linearly with leaf area. ⺠For stands, stem growth per leaf area declines with increasing leaf area. ⺠For single trees, stem growth increases linearly with light interception.
