Abstract
► We analyzed the effect of site on biomass in Juniperus thurifera. ► Soil quality affects allometries, biomass stocks and biomass allocation. ► Pruning effect is as an additional predictor of crown and coarse root biomass. ► Differences in allocation between sites explain strategies for resource capture. ► Biomass stocks and root:shoot ratio in poor soil are singular at a worldwide level.
