Abstract
⺠We investigate patterns of tree mortality for two co-occurring Nothofagus species. ⺠Between species, we found different spatial and size-related patterns of mortality. ⺠Slower growing trees were likely to die, as were Nothofagus fusca growing in previously disturbed stands. ⺠We demonstrate that performance differences between species can be manifested spatially.
