Abstract
► Decreasing subsidies in agriculture demand for alternative farm income sources. ► Off-farm income is affected by spatial, as well as household and farm characteristics. ► The complex interaction of these characteristics demands for micro-level information. ► We developed SIMfarm that combines econometrics, microsimulation and GIS. ► Main determinants are the type and scale of the farm, and the accessibility to jobs.
