Abstract
Ozone-assisted photodegradation could enhance gaseous ethylbenzene (EB) and chlorobenzene (CB) decomposition. Since EB and CB possess different groups, the types and amounts of oxidants might have different roles in the conversions of these compounds. For EB, ozone plays an important role during the conversion and contributes much more to its mineralization. But for CB, Cl radicals from direct photolysis could suppress the reactions among oxidants (such as ozone, hydroxyl radicals), and thus hydroxyl radical plays the dominant role.
