Abstract
- A new mesh generation scheme is proposed with the aid of polyhedral elements.
- The polyhedral elements are generated by trimming structured hexahedral elements according to the given surface information.
- The polyhedral elements are directly used in FEM applying smoothed integration without explicitly defined shape functions.
- The scheme simplifies the procedure of mesh generation and FE analysis.
- The scheme not only provides accurate FE solutions, but also enables efficient construction of meshes for complex domains.
