Abstract
► To reduce power consumption, hydrophobic silica aerogel was introduced into the package of pellistor methane sensor. ► It was found that power reduction at least about 30% could be achieved without sensitivity loss. ► Package thermal isolation improvement was verified to be an attractive power reduction approach for pellistor gas sensors. ► Compared to downsize approach, the outstanding merit of this method is the high sensitivity under low power supply.
