High-performance self-humidifying membrane electrode assembly prepared by simultaneously adding inorganic and organic hygroscopic materials to the anode catalyst layer

The MEA prepared with addition of silica and PVA simultaneously in anode catalyst layer exhibits excellent self-humidification performance at cell temperature of 60 oC under 15% RH both for anode and cathode. Its long term self-humidification performance is much better than those with addition of silica or PVA only, as well as the blank MEA.
