In-situ scanning electron microscopy observations of Li plating and stripping reactions at the lithium phosphorus oxynitride glass electrolyte/Cu interface

► Li plating-stripping reactions at the LiPON/Cu film interface are observed in-situ by SEM. ► At the Li plating process, nucleation reactions become rate determining step. ► At the stripping process, reaction looks to be governed by lithium diffusivity. ► Plated lithium will react with tiny amount of H2O and O2 in the SEM chamber.
