Abstract
⺠The silicon-based negative electrodes can be used in practical lithium-ion batteries. ⺠The prototype 14500 batteries show 1 Ah of nominal capacity. ⺠The performance is superior to the conventional batteries based on graphite. ⺠The batteries show neither smoke nor fire for all the tests examined.
