Abstract
► Cooperative interaction among Co, N and C is the key to enhance oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). ► Individual interactions between C and N, C and Co, Co and N have little effect on the ORR enhancement. ► Doping effect on ORR enhancement is dependent on the natures of the transition element and anion.
