Abstract
► Poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) was tested as a catalyst binder in a microbial fuel cell. ► PDMS cathodes produced comparable power and improved stability compared to Nafion. ► The hydrophobicity of PDMS improved oxygen mass transfer to the catalyst sites. ► The cost of PDMS is only 0.23% that of Nafion.
