Abstract
► New boundary conditions were derived to account for the Stern layer without simulating formally it. ► Both the Stern and diffuse layers were rigorously accounted for. ► The new boundary conditions were valid for planar, cylindrical, and spherical electrodes or pores. ► They made possible the simulations of EDLCs with highly ordered porous electrodes. ► Predictions of capacitances of an EDLC with ordered bimodal mesoporous carbons agreed well with experimental results.
