Abstract
► Hydrothermal oxidation of Al metal particles was carried out at elevated temperatures. ► It formed a core-shell structured Al2O3@Al metal-ceramic composite. ► The structure offered superior heat conductivity, surface area, and hierarchal pores. ► We used it as a support of ruthenium catalyst for methane steam reforming. ► The catalyst resulted in significantly enhanced hydrogen production yields.
