Abstract
⺠An SOFC-GT system is found to fit within physical locomotive size constraints. ⺠A freight-bearing SOFC-GT train is simulated over a representative route. ⺠Dynamic performance is compared for 3 fuels; diesel is most difficult to control. ⺠The diesel system is approximately 20% more efficient than conventional engines. ⺠Natural gas and hydrogen are simulated and found to be viable future fuels.
