Abstract
⺠An analytical model of stresses in multilayer, thin plates, free to bend has been applied to an SOFC. ⺠Model allows for different layer properties like coefficient of thermal expansion. ⺠Analytical calculation of stress due to differential thermal expansion provides quick validation of FEA. ⺠An FEA model of an SOFC has been developed to predict the stresses generated during its life cycle. ⺠FEA model includes chemical reduction of the anode material visco-plastic stress relaxation.
