Abstract
► Four binder materials were compared for use in Fe2O3 electrodes in alkaline solution. ► The H2 evolution potential was affected by the binder material of the electrode. ► PTFE was the best binder for the alkaline electrolyte without additives. ► Both PTFE and PE were suitable binders for the electrolyte with K2S additives. ► The Fe/C electrode capacity fading could be partly attributed to Fe2O3 dropout.
