Abstract
The magnetic properties are successfully enhanced by replacing the 2,2â²-bipyridine ligand in [(dtc)3Dy(bipy)] with 4,4â²-dimethyl-2,2â²-bipyridine ligand in [(dtc)3Dy(dmbipy)]·0.68CH3CN. Theoretical calculations based on the structures reveal that the presence of two methyl groups on the ancillary ligand affect the magnitude and direction of g, and the admixture of ground states, therefore their magnetic properties.34
