A series of near-infrared rare earth metal-organic frameworks based on a ketone functionalized aromatic tricarboxylate ligand

Three isostructural metal-organic frameworks [Ln(BCB)(DMF)]∙(DMF)m(H2O)n (Ln = Yb3+ (1), Er3+ (2), Dy3+ (3), DMF = N,N′-dimethylformamide) were synthesized from a ketone functionalized C3 symmetric aromatic tricarboxylate ligand. MOF 1-3 consist of two types of 1D trapezoid channels and exhibit permanent porosity. Interestingly, the three complexes show intensive near-infrared luminescence.289
