Abstract
Mononuclear copper(II) complex, [Cu(R,R-1)] based on a chiral salan ligand R,R-H21 with pendant ester functionalities was isolated, and structurally determined. Hydrolysing ester groups of R,R-H21 to carboxylic acids yields R,R-H42 as the hydrochloride salt, which was treated with copper(II) acetate to yield complex [Cu(R,R-H22)]n consisting of a 2D polymeric network.
