Abstract
The introduction of tripodal linker 5-sulfoisophthalic acid to the cobalt/thiacalixarene system led to the formation of one unprecedented calixarene-based tetrahedral coordination cages. The structure and coordination mode of the linker play a crucial role in the formation of such a cage.
