Abstract
⺠We present a novel technique to compute eigenmodes of partially enclosed basins. ⺠At the offshore boundary a simplified radiation condition is applied. ⺠A quadratic eigenvalue problem is obtained: complex modes are obtained as solution. ⺠Standing and progressive waves are reproduced, also considering radiation damping. ⺠The method can be used to calculate the normal modes of harbours and bays.
