Abstract
► Triaxial tests suggest that soft mud deposits in nature cannot be liquefied by waves under storm conditions. ► Re-interpretation of literature results suggest that maximal wave damping occurs after a storm. ► Our results suggest that fluid mud is formed by auto-saturation during a storm or saturation after that storm.
